- TITLE: Manuscript Features That Import into Ami Pro
- PRODUCT: Ami Pro 2.0, 3.0
- DATE: 28-Jul-92
-
- PROBLEM:
-
- Which Manuscript features import into Ami Pro?
-
- SOLUTION:
-
- Note: Using the "Convert levels into styles" is the best import option to
- select because corresponding Ami Pro paragraph styles will be created (MSTEXT
- 1, MSTEXT 2, etc.). Use "Apply styles" if you want your text to import
- unformatted.
-
- The following information is based on the Manuscript filter dated 5/20/92. If
- your filter is dated earlier than 5/20/92, you can call Lotus WPD Customer
- Service at (404) 399-5505 and request the Ami Pro 2.0 filters disk.
-
- The following Manuscript features import into Ami Pro:
-
- Centered text.
-
- Columns. Sections or Blocks that have been split or appended into columns
- import as Ami Pro tables. It may be necessary to adjust the column widths
- after importing into Ami Pro. Winding columns set through the Global menu in
- Manuscript import as a multi-columned document in Ami Pro. Winding columns
- set through Blocks do not import.
-
- Date Markers. (The date format in Ami Pro may be different than the format in
- Manuscript.)
-
- Even justification.
-
- Footnotes (endnotes and levelnotes come in as regular footnotes).
-
- Graphics (CGM, PIC, EPS). GMF files (metafiles created by older version of
- Freelance) and screen capture files (.SCG and .SCT extentions) will not
- import.
-
- Header and Footer text under the following circumstances:
- 1. If the Even, Odd, or First Page Layout panels in Global Page are identical
- to the Global Page Layout panel, only the left and middle column of the
- header will be maintained. The right column of the header is not visible
- until the carriage returns at the end of each column are deleted and
- replaced with tabs. The footer will not appear.
- 2. If the Even, Odd or First Page Layout panels are different from the Global
- Page Layout panel, footers that are in the left and middle columns will be
- maintained. The right column of the footer is not visible until the
- carriage returns at the end of each column are deleted and replaced with
- tabs.
-
- Line spacing is maintained within the blocks. If line spacing is set to more
- than 2 in Manuscript, it will convert to 1 1/2 or 2 in Ami Pro. Spacing
- between blocks must be set in an Ami Pro paragraph style using spacing above
- and below.
-
- Outline level indents are maintained and are set in the paragraph style
- created by Ami Pro. Outline numbering is not maintained when the "Apply
- levels" import option is selected. When the "Convert levels into styles"
- option is selected, outline numbering is not fully maintained but can be
- easily modified. Ami Pro creates paragraph styles (Ms Header 1, Ms Header 2,
- etc.). Select Style / Outline styles and choose the legal Quick Numbering
- option (1, 1.1, 1.1.1) for each of these styles.
-
- Page breaks are maintained but pagination may change due to different
- formatting (fonts, line spacing, tables, columns) in Ami Pro.
-
- Page margins.
-
- Page numbering located in the left header/footer column only in Manuscript
- will import when the "Convert levels into styles" import option is selected.
- Page numbering is not maintained when the "Apply levels" import option is
- selected.
-
- Picture markers will import if they are in a one block format. They cannot be
- part of a block that has been split into columns. (See Graphics above.)
-
- Section markers used in page numbering are ignored.
-
- Tabs.
-
- Text attributes set in global, levels, block, columns, and text in Manuscript
- (bold, italic, underline, small caps) are imported into Ami Pro as Text
- attributes. The correct fonts also will be maintained only if the available
- font names in Ami Pro exactly match those used in Manuscript.
-
- Text in Manuscript tables will import, but it will not be the same columnar
- format as in the Manuscript table. It may be necessary to adjust the column
- widths after importing into Ami Pro.
-
- Title pages import, but no shading, lines or borders will be maintained. The
- title will be placed on the first line of the page.
